Starring Vishnu and Remya Nambeesan in the lead roles, Kullanari Koottam revolves around Vetri (Vishnu), an unemployed MBA graduate in the temple city Madurai, who is waiting for the right job to come his way.
The story revolves around mobile number. By mistake he tops up an unknown mobile number instead of his dad's mobile number and then realizing his mistake, Vetri tries to contact the number, belonging to a college girl Priya (Ramya Nambeesan), to recover the amount he just spent on getting her number recharged. To avoid Vetri's continuous phone calls and missed calls, Priya fixes a place to meet him and return the money. As expected, they fall in love.
Priya's father is a policeman and insists Vetri to marry his daughter by dropping one condition that Vetri should become a policeman. This leads Vetri to attend a police test in Chennai. During the recruitment, Vetri and friends find corruption at all processes of examinations and decide to fight back!
What happens next forms the rest of the film.
On the whole, Kullanari Koottam is not too bad or too good!
