இந்திய சினிமா மட்டுமில்லை, உலக கிரிக்கெட் ரசிகர்களே எதிர்ப்பார்த்து காத்திருந்த படம் எம்.எஸ்.தோனி தி அண்ட் டோல்ட் ஸ்டோரி. ஒரு சாதரண ரயில்வே டிக்கெட் கலேக்ட்டர் எப்படி இந்தியாவே தலையில் தூக்கி கொண்டாடும் கிரிக்கெட் உலகின் ஜாம்பவான் ஆனார், என்பதை நீரஜ் பாண்டே இயக்கத்தில், தோனியாக சுஷாந்த் நடிக்க இன்று உலகம் முழுவதும் இந்த படம் வெளிவந்துள்ளது.

கதைக்களம்

தோனி இன்று நமக்கு ஒரு சக்சஸ்புல் மனிதராக தான் தெரியும், பல கோப்பைகளை இந்தியாவிற்காக வென்றவர் என பல சாதனைகளுக்கு சொந்தக்காரர்.
ஆனால், இந்த இடத்தை அவர் அடைய பட்ட கஷ்டங்கள் சாதரணம் இல்லை, தோனியின் வாழ்க்கையில் அவர் எத்தனை கஷ்டப்பட்டு இந்த இடத்தை அடைந்தார் என்பதையும், அவர் வாழ்க்கையில் நடந்த இன்பம், துன்பம், காதல், மோதல் என நமக்கு தெரியாத பல விஷயங்களை மிகவும் நேர்த்தியாக கூறியிருக்கும் படம் தான் இந்த எம்.எஸ்.தோனி தி அண்ட் டோல்ட் ஸ்டோரி.

படத்தை பற்றிய அலசல்

தோனி கிரிக்கெட் உலகிற்கு எப்படி வருகிறார் முதல் உலக கோப்பையை எப்படி வெல்கிறார் என்பது வரை உள்ளது. சுஷாந்த் படம் முடிந்தவுடன் திரையரங்கமே எழுந்து கைத்தட்டுகின்றது, அவர் நடிப்பிற்கு இதுவே ஒரு சான்று.
தோனியின் வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் பார்க்காத சில சோகப்பக்கங்களை நீரஜ் மிக அழகாக காட்டியுள்ளார், சாதரண குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்து சரித்திர நாயகன் ஆகத்துடிக்கும் ஒரு இளைஞன் வாழ்க்கையில் வறுமையால் எந்த பக்கம் செல்வது என்று தெரியாமல் சுஷாந்த் தோனியாக வாழ்ந்து இருக்கிறார்.
அதிலும் நம் பாதையை நாம் தான் தீர்மானிக்கவேண்டும், வாழ்க்கை முழுவதும் பவுன்சர் வந்துக்கொண்டே தான் இருக்கும், நாம் தான் குனிந்து செல்ல வேண்டும் என்பது போன்ற வசனங்கள் ரசிக்க வைக்கின்றது. இடைவேளையில் தோனி தன் வாழ்க்கையை தீர்மாணிக்கின்றார்.
அதன்பிறகு அவர் வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் அறியாத ஒரு காதல், சாக்‌ஷிக்கு முன் வரும் காதல், அதன் சோகமான முடிவு என பல சர்ப்ரைஸ் ரசிகர்களுக்கு உள்ளது. அதிலும் தோனி எப்படி இத்தனை பொறுமையாக இருக்கிறார் என்பதன் விளக்கமும் காட்சிகளாகவே காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தமிழ் சினிமா மெல்ல அடுத்தக்கட்டத்தை நோக்கி பயணிக்கின்றது. இதை நிரூபிக்கும் பொருட்டு பல படங்கள் திரைக்கு வருகிறது. இதில் பெரும்பாலும் சிறு பட்ஜெட் படங்களே ரசிகர்களை வெகுவாக கவர்கின்றது. மாயா, காக்கா முட்டை, விசாரணை போன்ற படங்கள் அனைவரின் கவனம் ஈர்த்தது. அந்த வரிசையில் இன்று உலகம் முழுவதும் வந்துள்ள படம் தான் சதுரம்-2.

கதைக்களம்

ஹாலிவுட்டில் சைக்கோ த்ரில்லர் வகை கதையின் மன்னன் ஜேம்ஸ் வான் இயக்கத்தில் வெளிவந்து பிரமாண்ட ஹிட் அடித்த சீரியஸ் தான் SAW. இந்த படத்தை அப்படியே காப்பியடித்து இவர்கள் பெயரை போடாமல், ஆரம்பத்திலேயே SAW படத்தின் இன்ஸ்ப்ரிஷேன் என சொல்லியே ஆரம்பிக்கின்றனர்.
ஓர் சிறிய அறை, இதில் மாட்டிக்கொள்ளும் இருவர், மரணத்தை தவிர மற்ற அனைத்து கொடுமைகளையும் அனுபவிக்க, யார் இவர்களை இப்படி செய்வது, எதற்காக செய்கிறார், இவர்கள் இதிலிருந்து மீண்டார்களா? என்பதே படத்தின் ஒன் லைன் கதை.

கிட்டத்தட்ட 80% அப்படியே SAW படத்தின் தழுவல், நம்மூர் ட்ரெண்டிற்கு ஏற்றார் போல் கொஞ்சம் மாற்றியுள்ளனர், Yog Japee பில்லா படத்திற்கு பிறகு ஒரு அழுத்தமான ரோல், இவரை இதுப்போல் நல்ல கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு பயன்படுத்தினால் நல்ல இடம் காத்திருக்கின்றது.
முதல் படமே இப்படி ஒரு முயற்சி கண்டிப்பாக பாராட்டிய ஆகவேண்டும், சுமந்த் ராதகிருஷ்ணன், மிகவும் நேர்மையாக கூறியே இப்படத்தை இயக்கியுள்ளார், அதற்கே தனியாக ஒரு பாராட்டு.
படத்தில் மிகவும் குறைந்த கதாபாத்திரம் தான் வருகிறது, இருந்தாலும் எந்த ஒரு இடத்திலும் சலிப்புத்தட்டவில்லை, கடைசிவரை Bore அடிக்காமல் கொண்டு சென்றுள்ளனர்.
நம்ம ஊர் சென்ஸாரை வைத்துக்கொண்டு இப்படி ஒரு படத்தை எடுப்பதே பெரிய விஷயம் தான், ஆனால், பிரச்சனையே இங்கு தான், SAW என்றாலே கொடுரூரமாக கொலை செய்வது பார்க்க பயம் வந்தாலும் எல்லோரும் ரசித்து தான் பார்த்தார்கள்.
அந்த பரபரப்பும், பயமும் இதில் கொஞ்சம் மிஸ்ஸிங், முன்பே சொன்னது போல் இதற்கு நம்ம ஊரின் சென்ஸார் விதிகளே காரணம்.

மேலும், பட்ஜெட் காரணமா என்று தெரியவில்லை சில காட்சிகள் செயற்கைத்தனமாக உள்ளது,
மொத்தத்தில் பலரும் காப்பியடித்து எடுக்க, உண்மையை கூறி முடிந்த அளவு சிறப்பாக எடுத்த சதுரத்தை ஒரு முறை கண்டிப்பாக பார்க்கலாம்.

Iru Mugan Movie Review

கடின உழைப்பு, தொடர் முயற்சி விக்ரம் கூடவே பிறந்தது. என்றும் தோல்விகள் கண்டு அஞ்சாது புதுபுது முயற்சிகளை எடுத்துவரும் விக்ரமின் அடுத்தக்கட்ட முயற்சி தான் இந்த இருமுகன். ஐ படத்தை மிஞ்சும் அளவிற்கு அதிக திரையரங்குகளில் இந்த படம் இன்று உலகம் முழுவதும் வெளிவந்துள்ளது.

கதைக்களம்

படத்தின் ஆரம்பத்திலேயே இந்தியன் எம்பஸியை ஒருவர் மட்டுமே தாக்குகிறார். அவருக்கு எப்படி இத்தனை பலம் வந்தது என்று பார்த்தால் இன்ஹேல்லர் (Inhaler) மூலம் ஒரு கெமிக்கல் எடுத்துக்கொள்கிறார் என்பது தெரிய வருகிறது.
பிறகு தன் மனைவி இறந்த சோகத்தில் இருக்கும் விக்ரமை இந்த கேஸில் நியமிக்கின்றனர். அவரும் ஒரு பெயரை கேட்டதும் உடனே ஓகே சொல்கிறார். அவர் பெயர் தான் லவ்.
பிறகு தான் தெரிகிறது இந்த கெமிக்கல் மருந்தை தயாரிப்பது லவ், விக்ரம் மனைவி இறந்ததற்கும் லவ் தான் காரணம் என்று. இதை தொடர்ந்து லவ் யார், விக்ரம் இந்த சதிதிட்டத்தை எப்படி முறியடிக்கிறார் என்பதை பரபரப்பான காட்சிகளால் கதையை நகர்த்தியுள்ளார் ஆனந்த் ஷங்கர்.

படத்தை பற்றிய அலசல்

விக்ரம் இன்னும் எத்தனை படத்தை தாங்கி பிடிப்பார் என்று தெரியவில்லை. ஒரே ஆளாக முழுப்படத்தையும் தாங்கி செல்கிறார். ரா (Raw) அதிகாரியாக ஒரு பக்கம் மிரட்ட, லவ்வாக மறுபக்கம் கவர்ந்து இழுக்கிறார். இன்னும் ஸ்பெஷலாக தன் வாய்ஸ் கூட சற்று மாற்றி கலக்கியுள்ளார். லவ்வாக அவர் செய்யும் சேட்டைகள் அப்படியே டார்க் நைட் ஜோக்கரை நினைவுப்படுத்துகின்றது.
நயன்தாரா தான் படத்தின் பெரிய டுவிஸ்ட். இவரை வைத்து தான் படமே அடுத்தக்கட்டத்திற்கு செல்லும் என்று நினைக்கும் நேரத்தில், என்னம்மா அவ்வளவு தானா? என கேட்கத்தோன்றுகின்றது. நித்யா மேனன் எல்லாம் கெஸ்ட் ரோல் கதாபாத்திரம் தான்.
படத்தின் முதல் பாதியில் பரபரப்பாகவே செல்கின்றது, யார் இந்த லவ் என்று விக்ரம் தேடி செல்லும் காட்சிகள், அதற்கு வரும் இடையூறுகள் என அடுத்து என்ன, அடுத்து என்ன என்று செல்கின்றது. அப்படியிருக்க இரண்டாம் பாதி கொஞ்சம் தடுமாறுகிறது.
அதற்கு முக்கிய காரணம் லாஜிக் மீறல்கள், படத்தை விறுவிறுவென கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று தான் ஆனந்த் ஷங்கர் நினைத்தாரே தவிர, எந்த ஒரு லாஜிக்கையும் பார்க்கவில்லை போல.
எங்கு வேண்டுமானாலும், எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் எதையும் செய்து விடுவார் விக்ரம். மலேசியா கவர்மெண்டில் இருந்து ஏதோ கண்ணாமூச்சி விளையாடுவது போல் ஒளிந்து ஒளிந்து விளையாடுவது லாஜிக் மீறல் கூட இல்லை, அத்துமீறல் சார்.
ராஜசேகரின் ஒளிப்பதிவு ஹாலிவுட் படங்களுக்கு நிகராக உள்ளது. டெக்னிக்கலாக நிறைய விஷயங்கள் படத்தில் இருப்பதால், நிறைய ஒர்க் அவுட் செய்துள்ளது படக்குழு, ஹாரிஸ் ஜெயராஜின் ஹலனா பாடலை தவிர வேறு ஏதும் கவரவில்லை, ஆனால், பின்னணி இசையில் மிரட்டிவிட்டார்.
இயக்குனர் முருகதாஸ் உதவி இயக்குனர் என்பதை இதில் நிரூபித்து விட்டார். கொஞ்சம் போதி தர்மன் கதை போல் தான் உள்ளது, என்ன இந்த படத்தில் ஹிட்லர் கதை வருகிறது.

க்ளாப்ஸ்

விக்ரம் அவர் நடிக்கும் கதாபாத்திரத்திற்கு எடுக்கும் முயற்சிகள், சின்ன சின்ன விஷயத்தை கூட சிறப்பாக செய்துள்ளார்.
படத்தின் முதல் பாதி விறுவிறுப்பாக செல்கின்றது. பின்னணி இசை மற்றும் ஒளிப்பதிவு.
லவ் கதாபாத்திரத்தை உருவாக்கிய விதம், மிகவும் ஜாலியான வில்லனாக கவர்கிறார்.

பல்ப்ஸ்

இரண்டாம் பாதி கொஞ்சம் வேகம் குறைகிறது, முதல் பாதியை விட வேகமாக சென்றிருக்கலாம். நித்யா மேனன் போன்ற நல்ல நடிகையை இப்படியா பயன்படுத்துவது?.
லாஜிக் மீறல்கள், அரிமா நம்பியில் பார்த்து பார்த்து கவனித்த இயக்குனர் பெரிய பட்ஜெட் படத்தில் கொஞ்சம் கவனித்திருக்கலாம்.
மொத்தத்தில் வழக்கம் போல் இந்த இருமுகனையும் விக்ரமே தன் முழுப்பலத்தால் கரை சேர்க்கிறார்.

Thodari - Movie Review

Prabhu Solomon directorial movie, starring Dhanush and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, is now out in theaters. Continue reading to know, whether the film is worth a watch.

Plot:

The entire film is set in a train plying from Delhi to Chennai Central. Poochiappan (Dhanush) a pantry worker in that train, instantly falls in love with Saroja(Keerthy Suresh) at the first sight.
The girl who works as a touchup girl for a popular heroine from Kerala, has a ambition to become a singer. Dhanush disguises as a person close to poet Vairamuthu, and she instantly get closer to him just to get a chance for singing in films via Vairamuthu. But only until, she comes to know the real face of Dhanush.
Then a series of events, ends up the train run at its top speed without any supervision.The media makes everyone believe that the train was hijacked by terrorists, and Keerthy was termed as the leader of the gang.
What happened to those 800 people and a Central minister travelling in that train? Watch the film in big screens to know.

Performances:

As usual, Dhanush has perfected again in the role of a pantry worker, without any exaggeration or mass scenes. Keerthy Suresh, has a major part to play, in the thrilling plot and she has done it so well. Her expressions at the sad moments deserves a special mention.
But what has disappointed is the screenplay by Prabhu Soloman with no ups or downs.
Despite that, the comedy has worked out very well and thanks to the performance of Thambi Ramaiah and Karunakaran.

What's hot and What is not?

The film has several unconvincing scenes which may really annoy the viewers. How can a man who is on the verge of death, over the top of a speeding train at 140 km/hr, dances in happiness.
Too much of Malayalam dialogues in the first half, makes everyone think whether it is a Tamil or Malayalam movie.
Director Prabhu Soloman has openly pointed out at several occasions of the film, that the politicians and the media channels have turned unethical nowadays and the same has been justified with a disclaimer at the title card.
Technically the film looks so colourful onscreen with vast landscapes around the rail-road. The CG is a huge letdown and the animated scenes were
Except 'Pona usuru' song, none of the other songs stays in our mind, while the background score was just convincing.
On the whole, Thodari - a less engaging train movie with a derailed plot and unconvincing screenplay.

Aandavan kattalai Movie Review

Vijay Sethupathi's next film Aandavan kattalai is now out in Theaters. This is his fifth outing this year. Continue reading to know more about the film.

Plot:

Gandhi, played by Vijay Sethupathi, and his friend Yogi Babu comes to Chennai to find a way to fly to London and find a job, to clear their debts.
The agent they meets, informs them that it will be much easier to get a visa if they were married. Then Vijay Sethupathi adds up a fictious name Karmegahakuzhali as his spouse name in the passport.
Yogi Babu clears the vis process, but unlucky Vijay Sethupathi doesn't come through, as he refuses to lie at the visa interview. Later he settles for a temporary job as a manager in a drama troupe run by Nassar.
Once Nassar gets a invitation to perform in England, he wants Vijay Sethupathi to come along with the group as a manager. In order to maintan his image as a clean person, Sethupathi then looks out for ways to get rid of spouse name in his passport. A lawyer suggests him that he may find a girl with the name Karmegakuzhali and divorce her with mutual consent. Incidentally, he comes across Karmeghakuzhali (Ritika singh) who is a TV reporter.
Did Vijay Sethupathi managed to convince Ritika for the divorce, and flied to London? Watch the film in big screens to know.

Performances:

Ritika Singh, the girl who was seen as a fisher women turned boxer in Irudhi Suttru has made a convincing performance as a reporter in this movie. Though she doesn't look like a Tamil girl, she impresses with the looks and the cute expressions.
Vijay Sethupathi can perform in any given character and this film is yet another instance for it. His performance as a dumb guy will surely impress all the fans.
Yogi Babu impresses with his quirky one liners and expressions, while other actors like Nassar, Singam Puli etc have done justice to their roles.

What's hot and What is not:

This film, which happens to be the third film for Manikandan (after Kaaka Muttai and Kuttrame Thandanai) simply portrays how the youngsters nowadays use illegal shortcuts and then land into huge troubles. The film has no songs and the background score was just sobering.
The biggest plus is the screenplay by Manikandan, Arul Chezhian and Anucharan. Though the film was slower in pace, it didn't fail to impress us. Here are some remarkable scenes which needs a special mention - the scenes which makes us know how hard it is to find a house for rent, & the scenes which portray the greedy brokers and travel agents who lands innocent persons into legal plight.. etc.
On the whole, Aandavan Kattalai will surely make us think twice before commiting even the smallest crimes.
